Some of the top new features of avast 6 are as follows :

The script shield intercepts all scripts executed on your system (both local and remote). And, if the item is safe, there is no hassle from a false positive,” stated Ondrej Vlcek, CTO of AVAST Software.

WebRep, a combination of automatically gathered Web threat intelligence and manual user input is also a very nice addition to the free product. “WebRep interfaces directly with search engine results, combining CommunityIQ data on infected websites with user-submitted information on the content and reputation of individual sites,” added Mr. Vlcek. AVAST hopes to tap its massive user base to transform into the most accurate Web reputation service on the market.

The next-generation avast! 6.0 also include a virtualized desktop for safer banking and shopping, adding a new layer of user security by preventing the theft of sensitive data from infected machines. However the new SafeZone is available only in the paid-for variants of avast! 6.0 including avast! Pro and the premium avast! Internet Security suite.
Other notable changes in Avast! 6.0 include improvements to the Web Shield, Behavior Shield, boot-time scanner and the antivirus engine itself, as well as full 64-bit support for Windows 7 and Vista.
