Download Skype for iPhone, iPad & iPod touch 3.0 – Free Video Calls Over 3G & WiFi

After a long wait, Skype finally adds video calls support for Skype for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad app. The lack of video calling support has irked iDevice users, especially when Skype voice calling has been able to work over both 3G (cell data network) and Wi-Fi wireless access point, in addition to free Skype calls between desktop users and other iPhone users, allowing free chats between Skype users.


The new video calls support in Skype for iOS app has been known for a while, and is officially released in version 3.0 of the Skype app for iOS devices. With free video calling support and intra-Skype free audio voice calling, Skype is now one of the most complete communication tools available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
Changlog of features in Skype 3.0 for iOS:

• Call Skype desktop users (Mac OS X or Windows) and other iPhone users.
• Two-way video calls supported on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th gen.
• Receive only video supported on iPad and iPod touch 3rd gen, with no camera.
• Make video calls in portrait and landscape.
• Skype video calling requires iOS 4.0 or above.
• Additional data charges may apply.
• Call Skype-to-Skype, wherever you are.

The new Skype app is compatible with iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch running iOS (iPhone OS) version 3.0 or above. Calling functionality is available on iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and 2nd generation iPod touch onwards, although iPod touch requires a compatible headset with a microphone. Two way video calling is available on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch 4th generation with i0S 4.0 or above, although iPhone 3GS does not have a convenient of front-facing camera. User can also receive video calls on the iPod touch 3rd generation and iPad.


You can update the Skype App version 3.0 directly from your iOS device or download it from the iTunes link here, and of course it’s free. The global roll-out may take some time, so be patient if you don’t find it immediately.
